ANCIENT/MODERN Private View at the Leyden Gallery
Despite the tube strike on the night of the private view the evening was a great success. It was great to meet the other artists properly and find out more about their work. Enzo Marra has a really distinctive painting style and has a strong 'art world' narrative within his work. Abstract artist Louise Evans' paintings 'project beyond the frame allowing them to become entities in themselves, looking outward rather than looking inward'. My paintings sat next to Louises,' which I feel really worked as there is such a big contrast style, method, narrative. Busy, detailed and figurative next to almost a blank canvas. Harry Tompkins combines painting, photography and collage to make his work.
The show is on until the 10th of May so there is still time to go and see it!
